The聽VW EA825聽(EA = development order) is a聽gasoline聽engine聽series of聽Volkswagen AG聽, which was developed by聽Porsche.聽The series includes聽eight-cylinder聽-聽V engines聽and is used in various vehicles of the Volkswagen Group since 2016th聽The engines are produced in the Porsche plant聽Zuffenhausen聽.

The聽displacement聽of 4.0 l聽eight-cylinder聽-聽V-type engine聽is 3996 cm鲁 with a bore of 86.0 mm and a stroke of 86.0 mm.聽The geometric聽compression ratio聽is 10.1.聽The V angle of the engine is 90 degrees.聽The engine has a gasoline聽direct injection聽.The change of charge is controlled by four valves per cylinder (聽four-valve technology聽) and a total of four聽overhead聽camshafts聽driven聽by a聽timing chain聽.

The engine has a cylinder聽deactivation聽via the so-called聽Audi valvelift system (AVS)聽, d.聽H.聽a two-stage stroke switching of the valves.聽At partial load, four of the eight cylinders can be shut down via another cam profile.

The 4.0-liter engine has two聽turbochargers聽(biturbo) that聽operate聽on the聽twin-scroll聽principle.聽The turbocharger is located in the inner V of the cylinder banks, d.聽H.聽the exhaust side is inside and the suction side outside.聽As a result, a compact design of the engine allows and keeps the gas flow paths short.聽The high-pressure fuel pump injects the fuel at 250 bar into the combustion chambers.聽
